The targeted search for gravitational waves from known pulsars

چکیده
Abstract In this paper, I review the latest results by LIGO-Virgo-Kagra Collaboration for targeted search of continuous gravitational waves (CWs) from 236 pulsars. First, present an overview types CW search. Then, show obtained using data third observing run LIGO and Virgo detectors combined with second run. No evidence has been found but it is possible to set upper limits on amplitude pulsar ellipticity at 95% confidence level. 23 analyzed pulsars have strain amplitudes that are lower than calculated their electromagnetically measured spin-down rates.

First Search for Nontensorial Gravitational Waves from Known Pulsars.
We present results from the first directed search for nontensorial gravitational waves. While general relativity allows for tensorial (plus and cross) modes only, a generic metric theory may, in principle, predict waves with up to six different polarizations. This analysis is sensitive to continuous signals of scalar, vector, or tensor polarizations, and does not rely on any specific theory of ...
متن کاملSearching for gravitational waves from known pulsars
We present upper limits on the amplitude of gravitational waves from 28 isolated pulsars using data from the second science run of LIGO. The results are also expressed as a constraint on the pulsars’ equatorial ellipticities. We discuss a new way of presenting such ellipticity upper limits that takes account of the uncertainties of the pulsar moment of inertia. We also extend our previous metho...
متن کاملFirst Search for Gravitational Waves from Known Pulsars with Advanced LIGO
We present the result of searches for gravitational waves from 200 pulsars using data from the first observing run of the Advanced LIGO detectors. We find no significant evidence for a gravitationalwave signal from any of these pulsars, but we are able to set the most constraining upper limits yet on their gravitational-wave amplitudes and ellipticities. For eight of these pulsars, our upper li...
متن کاملFirst narrow-band search for continuous gravitational waves from known pulsars in advanced detector data
Spinning neutron stars asymmetric with respect to their rotation axis are potential sources of continuous gravitational waves for ground-based interferometric detectors. In the case of known pulsars a fully coherent search, based on matched filtering, which uses the position and rotational parameters obtained from electromagnetic observations, can be carried out. Matched filtering maximizes the...
متن کاملGravitational Waves from Known Pulsars: Results from the Initial Detector Era
We present the results of searches for gravitational waves from a large selection of pulsars using data from the most recent science runs (S6, VSR2 and VSR4) of the initial generation of interferometric gravitational wave detectors LIGO (Laser Interferometric Gravitational-wave Observatory) and Virgo. We do not see evidence for gravitational wave emission from any of the targeted sources but pr...
